The lower section of the Frome between Dorchester and Wareham is dominated by water meadows, filled with a rich variety of wildlife including water vole, otter, numerous bird species both native and over wintering, and salmon. There are 20 SSSis along the 30 mile length of the River Frome plus additional SSSi’s in the meadows surrounding the river. A very important and protected habitat.
