Dreamcatchers were used by the Native Americans as a protective charm. They may also be decorated with sacred items such as feathers or beads. Traditionally, dreamcatchers are hung over a cradle or bed as protection.

This is an English interpretation on this Native American tradition. I have used the heritage craft of Dorset Buttons and used beads to work these dreamcatchers.

Kit includes:
A instruction pamphlet
A bamboo ring (17-18cm)
20 round coloured wooden beads
20 x oval wooden beads
1 x ball of Rowen Hand Knit DK cotton yarn
1 x size 18 tapestry needle
1 x wool bobbin

Your kit includes extra yarn for you to hang your dreamcatcher in your chosen place and your own chosen charms.

Dorset Buttons originated in Shaftesbury in the 1620s. They became a major cottage industry in Dorset creating employment and income for many families. By the 1780s 4,000 women and children were employed in the industry. The industry came to an end in the 1800s with the introduction of a button making machine.
